Lex Greensill CBE, Greensill Capital

Lex Greensill, founder of supply chain finance group Greensill Capital, was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for services to the economy in the Queen’s birthday honours in June.

Greensill founded the company in 2011 after a career that spanned Morgan Stanley and Citi. He said that he was inspired to develop supply chain finance after witnessing first hand the struggles his father’s Australian sugar cane farm endured as a small business supplying large multinationals.

Greensill described the honour as “a wonderful recognition of the indefatigable work that our team of 160 professionals in the UK and around the world do every day in providing over one million SMEs with access to ultra low-cost credit.”
